Ajax moved to De Meer in 1934 but increasing safety requirements forced capacity to as low as 19,000 which was far too low for the size of the club. The Amsterdam ArenA was therefore built and the side moved there in 1996. This special design was only worn in one match in the 95-96 season and this was the final clash with rivals PSV Eindhoven at the old ground which finished in a 1-1 draw with Kanu equalising a Ronaldo effort in the first half.
